Senator Ted Cruz’s victory in the midterms allowed Texas to stay out of a sticky situation. He narrowly beat Beto O’Rourke, a member of the House. Thanks to Senator Cruz’s victory over Beto, many experts are saying that Texas came very close to merging with Mexico.
Shortly following President Trump’s executive order placing National Guard troops on the southern border, an anonymous insider in the Beto campaign leaked an audio recording of Beto’s plan to cede Texas to Mexico. The plan included negotiations with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, as well as deals with multiple cartel kingpins.
Expert analysis shows this could have led to a huge military conflict. This is not the first time this has happened; empirics show that conflict like this has happened in the past. Luckily, Texans would have had an advantage thanks to President Trump’s border wall as it would impede on any attack made by the Texas army and the militias in the defense of their sovereignty.
This near miss has caused many local militias to begin training more often. In an exclusive interview with the East Texas Militia, they found that they will be
“…training five times per week. [They] will also be expanding into cavalry and naval branches.”
